Whether we like it or not, interpersonal conflicts occur every day in our workplace. In this session, we will be exploring and understanding the experience of conflict and how to manage it when stressors and triggers get in the way.

Financial concerns can have a profound impact on individual well-being, yet the financial domain is rarely addressed in social work practice. Within social work, teaching financial content is now prescribed by CSWE, and financial issues are highlighted as part of the Grand Challenges for Social Work. According to the American Psychological Association, issues with personal finances and costs of living is the top stressor Americans face (2022). Research also suggests that financial well-being contributes as much to overall well-being as do job satisfaction, relationship support satisfaction, and health status combined (Netemeyer et al., 2018).

In this course, attendees will be able to define financial social work, learn the importance of integrating financial considerations into social work practice, and explore the how improving financial capability can impact client outcomes. They will also learn about different tools to use in social work practice with clients. The session will conclude by highlighting emerging issues of which attendees should be aware. Resources for further information and training will be provided.

Financial aspects play a crucial role in behavioral health, yet this important domain often goes unexplored in clinical settings. Recognizing the critical nature of financial capability, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) mandates the inclusion of financial content in social work education, emphasizing its importance in addressing the Grand Challenges for Social Work. The American Psychological Association identifies personal finance and cost-of-living issues as the foremost stressor for Americans as of 2022. The session will wrap up by spotlighting emerging trends in the field, ensuring practitioners are up-to-date. Participants will receive a toolkit, including resources, referral options, assessment tools, and additional materials, to support their practice.

Join us for a dynamic round table discussion designed specifically for Community Action staff to explore and enhance their understanding of the Energy Share Program of North Dakota, a program dedicated to assisting fellow North Dakotans with emergency home energy needs, focusing on low-income, disabled, and elderly households who often face tough financial choices. The Energy Share Program serves as a crucial safety net, stepping in to cover emergency household energy bills when other assistance programs fall short. As it does not duplicate existing resources, it provides vital support once all other avenues have been exhausted.
