Utility Assistance - Energy Share of North Dakota
DPCAA does have, from time to time, funding to provide utility assistance, however utility assistance is largely limited to electrical utilities and does not normally include home heating. Assistance will be provided based on need and is designed only to supplement the efforts of the individual or household.
What is Energy Share?
Energy Share is an emergency grant program provided by Community Action Agencies in North Dakota. This program assists low-income households with their utility bills. Assistance is only provided when all other resources have been exhausted. Since this is a grant program, the assistance does not have to be paid back, but clients may be required to provide a co-payment. Energy Share is not an ongoing benefit and clients will encouraged to work out a payment plan with their utility company.
Who Funds Energy Share?
Funding for the Energy Share program is provided by private donations, utility companies across North Dakota and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
